The 5^th International Conference on Hydrogen Medicine & Biology Successfully Held in Tokyo, Japan

The 5^th Annual Conference of the International Society for Hydrogen Medicine and Biology (ISHMB), in conjunction with the 14^th Annual Conference of the Japanese Biomedical Society for Molecular Hydrogen (JBMSH2), was successfully held at Juntendo University, Tokyo, from November 7 to 9, 2025. The conference was chaired by the Honorary President of ISHMB, marking an important milestone in the advancement of global hydrogen medicine and biology research.

At the opening ceremony, ISHMB honorary president Professor Shigeo Ohta, ISHMB president Professor Shucun Qin, and the president of JBMSH2 Professor Ikuroh Ohsawa, individually delivered an opening address. Their remarks highlighted the rapid progress and growing international collaboration in the field of hydrogen medicine and biomedical science.

This conference invited featured 46 distinguished speakers, including scientists, scholars, and medical experts from 28 countries and regions, such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Russia. Participants presented and exchanged their latest research findings, facilitating in-depth academic communication and global cooperation. Significant progress has been made across multiple areas of research, including the molecular mechanisms of hydrogen biomedicine, applications in agriculture and sport medicine, and therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. The conference provided an important platform for sharing cutting-edge scientific developments and for promoting future collaboration among researchers worldwide.

During the conference, Professor Shucun Qin and Professor Shigeo Ohta respectively presided over the award ceremonies for the ISHMB Award and the Conference Award. The ISHMB Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the research, application, and organizational development of hydrogen biology and hydrogen medicine since the founding of the Society. The Conference Award honors scientists who delivered Keynote Lectures at the annual meeting. The event attracted more than 200 participants from around the world, reflecting the increasing global attention and influence of hydrogen biomedical science.

Under the chairmanship of Professor Shucun Qin, the ISHMB held a constructive discussion and unanimously approved the appointments of the second-term leadership team, including the Honorary President, President, Vice Presidents, Secretary-General, and Deputy Secretary-Generals, as well as several other organizational matters. Professor Qianjun He was unanimously elected as the President of the second-term ISHMB, while Professor Shucun Qin was elevated to the position of Honorary President.

The successful convening of the 5^th ISHMB Annual Meeting and the 14^th JBMSH2 Annual Meeting did not only showcase the latest global achievements in hydrogen medicine and biology but also strengthened international academic exchange and cooperation. The conference further solidified the foundation for future innovations and global partnerships in this rapidly developing scientific field.
